David Tarleton (Executive Producer, Director, Dorkball)

Originally from Virginia, David Tarleton began a life of DORKDOM as a child actor working at Colonial Williamsburg, dressed up in knickers and a wig. From there, his inability to be in the real world lead him to filmmaking.

An award-winning producer, director and editor, David has created programs for Sony Pictures, The Muppets, Syfy Channel, Walt Disney Pictures, 3Net, Fox, Comedy Central, Disney Channel, Tokyopop, Mattel, Universal, Warner Brothers, Baby Einstein, Showtime, Learn360, Random Media and more.

David is producer and director of the award-winning feature film “Hunter,” a supernatural thriller set in Chicago, currently distributed by Random Media. David produced and directed the groundbreaking 3D science fiction anthology television series “Dark Secrets,” for cable channel 3Net, which played domestically, internationally, and on Netflix. He is executive producer, director and editor of the award-winning improv comedy series “Dorkumentary,” starring Adria Dawn, and was editor of the Webby Award-winning Muppets series “Statler and Waldorf From The Balcony,” for Disney. His breakthrough film as producer/director/editor, the gothic fairy-tale “Dinner,” premiered at Slamdance, played on the SyFy Channel, and was released on DVD.

A Dork match made in heaven, David co-founded the production company Tarleton/Dawn Productions in 2004 with his wife, Adria Dawn. The company has produced over twenty films, numerous plays, a streaming series, and has an education division. David is also a partner in Revealing Media Group, which produces the award-winning socially activist short film series “Kids Matter,” including the short films “Unsafe,” “Blackout,” “Help,” “Pressure,” “Viral,” “Excluded,” and “Bystander,” distributed throughout the world, which he produced, co-directed, shot and edited.

He is a tenured Associate Professor in the Cinema and Television Arts department at Columbia College Chicago. He is the Director of Graduate Programs, and primarily teaches Film Directing and Editing. He can be found on the web at davidtarleton.com.

David enjoys wearing black knee-high socks, pulled all the way up.

Adria Dawn (Executive Producer, Star, Dorkette)

Adria Dawn has always been a GIANT DORK.

She is a multi hyphenate who grew up in the Midwest, and broke into Hollywood working as a Levi's model. As an actor she is most known for playing the dorky outcast April Tuna on Ryan Murphy's high school cult hit Popular, receiving a nomination from Jane Magazine for "Gutsiest Woman on Television." Adria's roster of acting credits steadily expands, always adding memorable roles to her resume.

As a director, writer and producer, Adria is most known for her award-winning film series Kids Matter and her films for social change. She operates Tarleton/Dawn Productions with her husband and partner, David Tarleton. TDP is a boutique production company whose award winning projects include series, plays, music videos and films.

As an educator, Adria specializes in teaching on-camera acting. She teaches at Acting Studio Chicago, the Performer’s School, and out of her private studio. She has toured colleges throughout the United States and Europe, teaching the art and business of acting for film and television.

She can teach you how to be a dork, but usually, she says, “you’re either born a dork or not.”
